Wahoo are built for speed and are among the hardest-hitting fish we target offshore. They can appear around clean blue water, current edges, reefs and bait concentrations, and they reward anglers with blistering runs and excellent meat.
How we fish for wahoo
Trolling is a common way to cover water for wahoo, while live-bait programs can also produce them when fish are working reef edges or bait concentrations.
Best conditions
Current, bait and water quality matter more than a calendar date alone. Winter is a well-known South Florida wahoo period, but opportunities can occur at other times.
Trip recommendation
